Peter

With over thirty years of experience and qualifications and a father of five wonderful daughters, I have a wealth of knowledge in the childcare field.

I have previously worked in many sectors including the Local Authority, Ofsted, the NHS and as a pre-registration advisor for Leeds Children Partnership. Working with a diverse and passionate team at Best Childcare, I feel my ethos has inspired many individuals in their chosen career paths and has created a unique setting for children and families. As an advocate of high-quality childcare, I am immensely proud of my team for achieving Ofsted "Outstanding" and implementing their wealth of skills into daily nursery life, ensuring that every child achieves the best possible outcomes on their individual learning journey.

Working with children and families has always been my passion; from working with the Local Authority to Ofsted- and arguably the most important, being a very proud Mum.

I know what is needed and expected to create and sustain a thriving early years provision. I am proud of the dedication of our team, from all of us, including our cleaning team, external agencies, and our friendly Nurturing Team.

We know families’ expectations of what they want and need for their precious children and ensure that we meet these expectations going above and beyond alongside all Statutory Requirements.

My favourite part of our Nursery Day is sharing a quiet moment in our comfortable “hygge” spaces, with a cuddle and story nurturing your child’s emotional well-being. ‘Professional Love’ is something our Nursery is not short of, and being present to guide our team and offer that warmth for your children is reflective in all we do.

As an Early Years Teacher and Forest School Leader, I am passionate about delivering outstanding care and quality of education to all children.

Operations Manager

Safeguarding children and their families are at the core of deliverance- as well as nurturing our Nursery Community’s well-being & welfare. I champion a sense of community in all aspects of our Pedagogy, with Partners in and around our Nursery, as well as the wider Early Years Sector. As an inner-city Nursery, based just off Chapeltown Road- we are in the heart of an incredible, vibrant community. We know this and respect this- and cherish the opportunities to engage and participate with all those around us. It is my intention to “rewild” childhood- to bring the magic moments of everyday life to the forefront of what we share.

I believe in challenging the traditional view of “Forest Schools”, which centres practice in a woodland setting. At the heart of the Forest Schools philosophy is inclusion; and I believe, with a little bit of creativity and flair the Forest Schools Approach can be and should be, applied and shared within all moments of teaching. As a leader who is a strong believer in "people need people" (Benjamin Zephaniah), I welcome all families and friends through our Nursery door and look forward to meeting you.

Since joining Best Childcare over a decade ago, I have eagerly developed my skills and knowledge and most recently acquired a degree in Early Years. I am committed to the highest standards of care and learning for all children, instilling a sense of awe and wonder into each day for not only our children- but Families & Nurturers alike.

Creating a home from home and a supportive environment for all children to thrive, to be confident learners with high self-esteem and self-worth. I have a strong passion for supporting all children to learn through play, with a sprinkling of ‘love’ and gentle nurturing.

Assistant Manager

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who has a real passion for working alongside children and ensuring they succeed in all they do.

Within my role as Contingency Manager, I support the management team in the day-to-day running of the nursery, whilst also being responsible for ensuring that the quality of both care & education we offer is always outstanding. I pride myself with flying the flag for equality and inclusion within our nursery and the wider community. We continue to share conversations with local partners, and I am proud to champion an inter-generational partnership with a local well-being hub.

My wealth of experience from working with children all the way up to School age, has equipped me with essential skills to navigate pathways for all children- ensuring that all professionals work together to nurture a child.

Contingency Manager

All children deserve the best start in life, and I believe my positive energetic and transformational approach ensures that each child within our setting achieves this.

Our professional team- inclusive of Qualified Teachers, Early Years Teachers, Qualified Childcare Educators as well as Apprentices; not least to mention the "unqualified staff" who have qualifications in abundance within the arts, languages and music- are quite simply incredible.

Reflection is key to ensuring the success of the "teachers" and this is led through continued communications- playful interactions and really "listening" to the child. When we talk about listening to children, we talk about respecting and responding to children's voices. Our skilled, continually curious and ambitious team create pathways where this is shared: for instance, taking a lead in the Danish approach to "Fika". Everyday our children are supported in participating in these moments of "togetherness", where nutritious foods are shared, and children and families are celebrated.
